Terms of Service
Last updated: 27 October 2026
Welcome to Daily Poetry. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Poetry Atlas, the operator of Daily Poetry ("Daily Poetry", "we", "us") and govern your use of the Daily Poetry mobile app and the dailypoetry.co website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Daily Poetry delivers one hand-picked poem each day, in the languages you choose, with a short analysis, plus reading tools (font size, themes, dictionary/translation lookup, saved notes, and similar), and a comments area where readers can respond to a poem, an analysis or a poet. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial reading and enjoyment.
Analyses are machine-assisted. The analyses and author biographies in the Service are produced with the help of machine-learning software. They are interpretation and background, not authoritative scholarship, and they can contain mistakes. Poem texts, translations and attributions can contain errors too. If you spot one, use the error report in the app or write to support@dailypoetry.co.
2. Eligibility
The Service is intended for people aged 13 and older. By using it you confirm you are at least 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher). The Service is not directed to children under 13.
3. Your licence to use the Service
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the app and access the website for their intended purpose, subject to these Terms and any applicable app-store terms.
4. Content and intellectual property
- The poems. Daily Poetry curates poems that are in the public domain or that we otherwise have the right to present. Public-domain poems are not owned by anyone; the original texts are free to read.
- Our materials. The analyses, biographies and commentary we publish, translations we commission, curation, design, brand (the Daily Poetry name, logo, and wordmark), software, and the overall look and feel of the Service are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, scrape, redistribute, sell, or create derivative products from them, or use them to train machine-learning models, without our written permission. Reading and personal use within the app are of course fine.
- Your material. Your private notes and reading settings are yours and stay on your device. Your favourites and ratings are stored on our servers as described in the Privacy Policy. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the features you use. Comments are covered in section 5.
5. Comments
Readers can post comments under a poem, an analysis or a poet. Comments are public: everyone using the app can see the comment text, your reader name, your avatar and profile photo if you add one, the time, and what it is attached to. You get an automatically generated reader name, which you can change; do not use your real name or post personal information unless you want it shown to everyone. Comments are plain text of up to 2,000 characters.
- You are responsible for what you post. You keep ownership of your comments. By posting you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display and distribute them to other readers within the Service while they are shown. You also allow us to keep a limited copy for as long as we need it for moderation, legal compliance and backups (backups expire within about 90 days, see the Privacy Policy). You confirm that you have the right to post them.
- Conduct rules. Do not post anything that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening or abusive; sexually explicit; that targets a person or group for who they are; that encourages self-harm or violence; that reveals someone else's private information; that is spam, advertising or a link scheme; that impersonates another person; or that infringes someone's rights. Keep it about the poem. Do not use a reader name or photo that breaks these rules.
- Filtering. Comments and reader names are checked automatically against word lists before they are shown. A comment that is flagged is not posted and you are asked to reword it. The filter is not perfect: it can miss things and it can block innocent text. We do not read every comment before it appears.
- Report and block. Every comment has a Report option (spam, abusive or harmful, other), and you can block a reader so their comments are hidden from you. We review reports and commit to review each reported comment and take action within 48 hours: we will hide or remove a comment that breaks these rules and may suspend the reader who posted it. We do not promise to reply to the person who reported. See the Support page.
- Removal. We may hide or remove any comment, reader name or photo, and suspend a reader, at our discretion, including where it breaks these rules or the law. Readers who have not been suspended can edit or delete their own comments and remove their photo in the app; a deleted comment disappears from the discussion and its stored text is replaced. A suspended reader cannot do this in the app; to have a comment or photo removed, email support@dailypoetry.co (see the Privacy Policy for how we check the request is yours).
- Other readers' views. Comments are the views of the people who post them, not ours. We do not endorse them and are not responsible for them.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service unlawfully or to infringe others' rights; reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or the poem catalogue in bulk; scrape or systematically download content; interfere with or overload the Service or its servers; circumvent security or usage limits; or use the Service to build a competing product.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including the Apple App Store (and, in future, Google Play), our hosting provider, font services, and the providers that supply word lookup, translation and pronunciation aids (currently Google Cloud Translation, Wikimedia's Wiktionary and OpenAI), as the Privacy Policy describes. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
8. Availability, changes, and "as is"
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, and a given poem is available for its day and then rotates out. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of analyses, translations or comments, or uninterrupted availability, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Daily Poetry and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim (which, for a free service, may be zero). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete the app at any time. We may suspend or end your access, including your ability to comment, if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or other users.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app or on the website. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise.
13. Contact
Daily Poetry is operated by Poetry Atlas. Questions about these Terms, and reports about comments, can go to support@dailypoetry.co.
